😧🌉 One cause of chest pain in a young patient

😧🌉 There are many causes of chest pain of cardiac origin💔. The most common, by far, is caused by coronary obstruction resulting from atherosclerosis, meaning a cholesterol plaque ruptures and obstructs/occludes one of the heart arteries. However, this type of pain is more commonly experienced by individuals over 45 years old and is associated in 90% of cases with classic cardiovascular risk factors (hypertension, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, among others).

There are other causes of chest pain, especially in young people. One of them is known as myocardial bridging. This occurs when muscle fibers of the heart wrap around a coronary artery, causing compression with each heartbeat. At certain times, this can manifest as oppressive chest pains even at rest, with similar characteristics to classic angina pectoris. The diagnosis is made based on clinical suspicion, electrocardiogram, and coronary angiographic evaluation. Today, this can be done non-invasively with coronary computed tomography or traditionally with invasive coronary angiography. Initially, treatment is pharmacological.
