"Discover valuable information about a very common concern here."

🧂 High blood pressure is characterized by not giving symptoms, which is one of its biggest paradoxes, earning it the name "silent killer🔪." Blood pressure can be elevated for years, causing problems in different organs (heart💔, brain, and kidneys) while not producing any symptoms.

A frequent concern is the presence of headaches associated with high blood pressure levels. The relevant question here is: is the headache a cause or a consequence? First, it's important to note that any situation of physical or psychological stress can raise blood pressure, so if there is headache, the pressure tends to rise. In that case, the headache should be treated, not the pressure. On the other hand, in certain individuals, headache or a feeling of head emptiness can occur with very high blood pressure values. It is a very nonspecific symptom and does not necessarily indicate the severity of the condition. In these cases, blood pressure should be treated due to the risk it poses on its own. It's not always easy to determine the cause and effect, so it's important to consult a cardiologist to treat the condition properly. An important piece of advice, based on our experience in the clinic in Mexico (Toluca/Lerma), is never to use drops⛔💧 or sublingual medication, usually nifedipine, in these situations, as a sudden drop in pressure can be dangerous. The general rule is to lower the pressure slowly and gradually over several hours.
